Se7en

This was the week that we started watching the movie se7en.  I ended up missing the first class that it was shown but I was told what had happened the first 40 minutes of it.  When I showed up to class the next time, I had started watching at half way and watched the rest of the movie.  It was a very gruesome and violent movie.  The acting was really good, Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman did a wonderful job.  We ended up having to write about the movie.  I chose to write about the se7en sins because I watched a show that dealt with them, it was called FullMetal Alchemist.

Adventure Club

I happened to go to another concert in Richmond. It was for a group called Adventure Club. They played at The National and it was spectacular.  It wasn't as good as Flux Pavilion but it was very fun regardless. They don't play that hardcore Dubstep which actually is a good thing because I am not really into the Dubstep as much as I used to be. Their music is really good and everyone was so hype when they came out.  I had a blast seeing as it is the second time I have been to a concert! I will definitely keep going out to concerts because they tend to be a good time for me!

Essay 3 Revising

This essay was a bit harder for me only because I have to decide on my own what to talk about and I was not exactly sure what I wanted to write about.  I did want to write on the dogs and relate them to the poems but I also wanted to write about abortion and why it can be necessary at some points in time and why it should be not used just like Hills Like White Elephants.  I am probably going to change what I wrote about because I turned in a rough draft of writing about dogs.  I think I can also write about more when it comes to abortion even though it is a touchy topic. It is not bad to voice my opinion at all, so that's why I am changing my topic.

Halloween Week

So this week was one that happened to go kind of fast because it was Halloween and everyone was excited to dress up and get candy or go out and hang with friends.  In class we had just been going over poems such as the really sad dog poems.  I am not a big fan of poems but i did like some of the ones that we went over in class. I thought that the best poem was We Real Cool, it was literally the shortest poem in the whole book and I was in a group that had to talk about it which was just silly.  I did have a good week this week, even when i had to start writing my essay.

Essay Number Two

In class, we peer edited our second paper that is going to be due at the end of the semester.  I wrote about the symbols in the story.  There were a few actually but I only had to write about three main ones.  We really did just go over papers the whole week.  We did do a reflection of the paper and than we got assigned a third paper.  I think this one will be easier only because we can technically write about whatever we want.  I am hoping that next week is a little better when it comes to doing things in the class.  I am assuming that we will be doing something different tomorrow.

Fall Break

There were only two days of class this week that I had to attend.  It was a rather short week since students had fall break this week.  It was not really a Fall Break but honestly, it was better than nothing.  This past week we literally talked about The Glass Menagerie. We played a trivia game and my team got second place out of three teams which isn't that bad.  It was not a big deal because first place didn't get a prize for winning.  On Wednesday, we just tried to do some research for the paper since our rough drafts are due tomorrow in class.  I am actually almost done with it. I hope that it meets all the requirements and that everything sounds good.  This paper is surprisingly not as tough as tough as I interpreted it to be.  I am going to get back to doing that, so deuces!

First Event(Concert)

I am writing about the first event that I attended since I need to do two by the end of this semester.  The first event was actually a music concert that happened at The National in Richmond on Thursday.  The person playing was a DJ called Flux Pavilion.  It was him and a few other people.  He was the very last person and It was a great thing to go to.  I have never been to a music concert and that was my first time.  I really enjoy music and it was good to see someone I enjoy listening to live. There were so many people there and it was crowded but I did not mind it one bit! He is actually from the United Kingdom as well and he still played even when he had a broken arm which was amazing! Music honestly makes things so much better in this world, I wouldn't know how I would be if I did not listen to it.  It always sets the mood and helps whenever I need to calm down or focus. Music is a blessing.

Really Late

This was supposed to be last weeks blogs but i have been very busy with things like work and homework. I literally think all we did last week was watch the movie The Glass Menagerie.  It was a very slow but good movie.  I really did like it and i just finished reading the story.  They are not really that much different and if they are, it is something minor. Friday was a day where we just got to talk about the movie.  We discussed in class and i think it went rather well.  It does not help that I really can not remember everything seeing as it is a week later but i still feel that it was a rather easy week and this is all we did.

Editing

This past wondrous week was filled with adventures of our rough drafts being peer edited.  It was a such a blast! Even if Monday I could not show up i still showed up the other two days and helped people fix their mistakes while mine were also fixed.  I think that it went rather well because I got very good feedback and I fixed everything that was wrong with my paper.  We also discussed about the new assignment which is to write about the story The Glass Menagerie. I have no idea what to write since i have never seen or read it.  We did start watching it in class and it seemed very old school but I am excited to see what it is about since I only got through five minutes of the film in class.  That is basically all of what happened this week which is not a bad thing.  This next week should be a bit better.

Short week

Well this week of English was rather short.  We did not do much in the classes. We even had Friday off, but that was a huge help for me so i could start writing my rough draft.  I went to the library and had a tour of it. I learned how to use the machines to look for books because i have never had to use a book yet.  Than we learned how to search things up for research because our class will eventually have to put works cited in our papers and do research.  

After all of that fun, we read "Hills Like White Elephants." It was a really good story and the whole underlying text was so that the girl would get an abortion. It took me a little while to find out by myself but i got it with my parents help. On Wednesday we discussed it in class and surprisingly not that many people knew that they were talking about abortion. Mainly that was all we did and now it is time to get ready for another week of school!

This last week

This week went by rather fast and we talked about stories that were about death and racism. The author apparently likes to write about bad things which is good because they have underlying meanings in them. We had to answer questions in groups and try to ask questions about the stories and so we can discuss things to get a better grasp on what the meanings were for each story. We went over topics for our papers that we could compare ourselves too since we have to write about one of the characters in the stories we have read. It is really hard because I am not sure who i can relate too, i really have to think about it. I am not sure if i want to relate it to something good or bad. We did not have class Friday which was kind of good because i got to catch up on some sleep! I am definitely going to continue looking into the stories and characters so I know exactly what i want to write about and which will be the best for me.

Well hey there,

I'm Milton Montenegro and this is my first blog post.  I have no idea what i am doing since this is for my English 102 class but i hope i am doing it right.  I am 19 years old and not the greatest writer so I am hoping all this blogging will possibly help.  The English class is pretty decent even though I started a little late.  I am trying to catch up with this late blogging. In class all we discussed about, The Cask of Amontillado. It was a pretty crazy story because of the whole point to it. Apparently the main character has such a huge ego that if someone insults him, he has to kill them no matter what.  Which was pretty messed up and the way he killed Fortunado was just cruel.  Who kills someone that is drunk? He was probably having a good time then once he sobers up he finally realizes what is going on. The video that Professor showed us was pretty creepy but he seemed to enjoy it which there is nothing wrong with.  I guess this is the first of many that I have to blog about. I'm not sure how to end a blog but I guess, peace out girl scouts!
